Dry Grad Committee – Meeting #5

  1. Welcome
    Two more parents have joined the sub-commitee.

2. Mr. Kamide’s update on School Health protocols
− Staff are working very hard
− Strong hints – more endemic phase- the difference is during pandemic – to reduce; endemic –accepted that everyone is getting it
− Winter formal – postponed to April 8, 2022 – protocols, no dancing
− Dinner dance – expectation as per usual,
− By family day – softening in the restrictions
− School do not require to show vaccination
− Valedictory / Chan Center – must show vaccination
− All in all – its looking positive

3. Covid-19 BC Health orders:
o Indoor organized gatherings of any size are not allowed. Examples include: Sponsored or ticketed parties, celebrations
o Indoor events at venues can only have 50% capacity, no matter the size. Examples of indoor events at venues include: Sponsored and ticketed events
o Everyone must be fully vaccinated to attend.
o Venues must scan proof of vaccination QR codes for entry
o Everyone must wear a mask indoors
o Dancing is not permitted. All spectators must be seated
Mix messages on the Covid restrictions at this time, hoping to improve for the Grad activities.

4. Treasurer’s reports
− Budget needed $25,873.00 – Susan under discussion with PAC for the PAC contribution
− Flip Give $10 bonus to Feb 6
− Plan A budget
− Plan A budget to Plan B has not change
Suggestions/ ideas:
Key chain, scarf, toque, baseball hat, – good to bring to the reunion. – plan to vote for next meeting
Request: Everyone think of their top 3 ideas for next meeting

5. Sub-committee reports from recent Plan B meetings

− No report

− Plan B – photo booth, walk thru, fire dancer, – under discussion
− Magician, photographer, booked already refundable; fake tattoo artist – under discussion

Food and beverage
Plan A:
− To order by May 1, 2022 – clear plastic cups/ containers with lid – sizes 16oz, 32oz, 48oz – 100 each – Amazon.ca quotes $38/100pcs – to coordinate with Yvette to a supplier/friend
− To order/purchase by June 20-23, 2022 – to be prepared in single serving cups on June 24-morning in the school by the F&B team
− For food and beverages, no need for down payment – to order/purchase by June 20-23, 2022 – to be prepared in single serving cups on June 24 -morning in the school by the F&B team or order/delivery on June 24.
For Plan B:
− Restaurant Gift Card to each graduate– to celebrate the graduation with food and drink – for our discussion

Security and Transportation
− Boxes to check with Christine / Colleen to purchase

Fundraising/ Donations / Grants
− School raffle – Raffle draw on Friday, $5 per ticket, target profit $1500
− Apple Airpods, Maple leaf driving lesson, gift cards 4 @$25
− World Finest Chocolates – can order online – Feb 7 to Mar 7, 2022 – delivery before the spring break $90 per box with 30 bars – cash on line or cash in school – 7 boxes to be kept aside for the goodie bags. One ticket entry per box for the raffle price, 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes – Goal is to have every grad to take a box to sell. There’s a large profit margin on these.
− Spring break carwash – community centre parking lot, Spring break holiday, Saturday March 12, 19, or 26, 1pm to 4pm, depending on the weather; we need student volunteers, buckets, water hoses, signage.
− Donation directly to school district website on DAG website and to be sent to parents via school email again soon.
− Letter to be provided in a google.doc version, to be customizable to request donation from companies so everyone can approach businesses

− To check the distribution of the website link
− Website is updated accordingly with the new information
− Website is accessible thru the school website
− Next emails will include the website address
